Well! Yes, thats right, I now have two entries. Ok, so the update: It is confirmed, the boy IS in my film class! haha, and he left me this great instant message. In fact, I've gotten some great messages today. I had a wonderful chat with my friend Matt from Dallas about how close-minded people are...well...close-minded. I am still annoyed at a friend of mine from home for a conversation I had with him last semester. He bashed Michael Moore hardcore and proceeded to tell me some crap about how the Bible says that the boys from Columbine killed those people because of sin which was already embedded in them or something. It essentially made no sense, and disregarded any possible social factors. It was just weird because I had never heard anything like that out of him, and it completely made me change my views of him. I would have almost been ok with the whole thing, except when I tried to finish off the conversation with a "agree to disagree" attitude, he essentially said that my opinion was wrong because the Bible said so and that he doesn't have to worry about my opinion because HE knows the truth. It was weird. And scary. AH! So anyway, my friend Matt, and the boy from my film class, redeemed the world somewhat in my eyes, and I must therefore link to a link from Matt's profile: http://www.nrablacklist.com/. It made me a little happier.
Oh! Also, I need ideas for a book to read outloud in the middle of the Quad for banned book week. I was thinking either Catcher in the Rye (which I actually haven't read, but know I NEED to read, so it would be a good choice...but if I haven't read it then I'm afraid I won't know where to put emphases and such) or possibly The Handmaid's Tale, because I already own and know that one, and it's a really great commentary on all sorts of issues that are currently going on, despite the fact that it was written in the 80s. If you haven't read it, go read it.
To recap:
Matt and Brock are cool, close-mindedness isn't.
